Titre : Cardinal, 7/8/1587 nommé par le pape Sixte V.

Voyages

Louvain, opposé au Protestantisme, il trouve y refuge.

Angleterre, il y revient clandestinement pour faire de l'évangélisation.

Pays-Bas, 1565 il quitte définitivement l'Angleterre pour Malines où il est ordonné prêtre.

Douai, 1568 après un premier voyage à Rome, il fonde une université destinée à former des prêtres catholiques anglais.

Rome, 1575 il y revient pour fonder, à la demande du pape Grégoire XIII, la même université.
