Il a fait le récit de la controverse qui opposa en 1583 Giordano Bruno et Tobie Matthew, doyen de Christ-Church.
En 1604, défenseur des causes protestantes, il dédie à Buckhurst la réponse qu'il avait élaborée contre l'ouvrage de Thomas Hill : "A quartron of reasons of catholike religion" et qui parut sous le titre "the reasons which Doctour Hill hath brought, for the upholding of papistry, which is falselie termed the catholike religion unmasked and shewed to be very weake, and upon examination most insufficient for that purpose".
Il avait publié en 1599 une "Brieffe description of whole world".
